Project Based Learning Discussion

Collaborative discussion today led by Helen.  Also present was Parintorn, Courtney, Jenny, Becca, Vanessa, and Grant.  We read the Project Based Learning reading and discussed the key points and things that we found interesting in there.  And we followed up with the SDL reading at the end.  The key parts for me were the foundation steps for students to really be able to engage in project based learning.  

The need first a Desire to engage or learn, and then the ability to manage themselves and get involved in their learning independently.  

The First is the most essential and the second can be coached as we go along but the focus and commitment that comes from the desire is necessary.  Once those parts are in place the Project Based Learning that is possible can be really awesome and deep.
